Middle schooler gets upset with friends stealing her stuff, stepmom uses hand sanitizer prank to teach them a lesson: 'I demanded she hand over the empty bottle'

Some problems can only be solved by giving the problem causer a taste of their own medicine. 

Navigating situations where somebody will not stop taking advantage of you can be tricky, especially when you are still growing up and learning, and it is happening in an environment that is difficult to avoid, like school. Because of this, it is not uncommon for school-age kids at every stage to face tormentors in the form of classmates and so-called friends, making every day feel more upsetting than the last.

As a parent or guardian, it can be infuriating to realize that a child is being mistreated by their peers. Anyone who cares about sticking up for their kid will often do everything in their power to make it stop, and sometimes, this involves some unorthodox methods. There are many times when a simple talk with the principal isn't going to cut it. Direct action needs to be taken.

  • In this story, a stepmom felt like she had tried it all when her middle school-aged stepdaughter's supposed friends would not stop taking her things and making her upset. Teachers, principals, and the kids involved had been spoken to, but nothing seemed to make the problem better.

  • OP No_Example_4383 I definitely did. I let her know anyone from school or those kids parents could call me and I'd be happy to chat. I don't think she was ever in true danger but no one enjoys conflict.

  • swbarnes2 I think you should have gone to a school superintendent or something when the principal dismissed your concerns. "Develop a thicker skin" is not an appropriate response to accusations of bullying.

  • OP No_Example_4383 I don't disagree with you. I think the matter itself presented petty and dismissible, but when you looked at the situation as a whole, they should have paid better attention. When someone asks for their items not to be bothered, it shouldn't matter what it is, the request should be granted!
